STATS COME WITH ME

‘Come With Me’ is yet another track from Stats’ eagerly anticipated Powys 1999 album that has turned our heads. Crunchy electronic sounds catch the ear instantly, taking us on a journey through Royksopp and Squarepusher in just twenty seconds. When Ed Seed’s lead vocal joins, we’re led towards an even more unique sound that balances aggression with catchy melodies. This juxtaposition links nicely to Seed’s questioning of whether solitude is healthy or sinister: “I grew up in a granite house 1100 feet up, two miles from the nearest town,” he explains. “You could have some big, scary ideas about the world when there’s no one around to temper you.” This is a fitting opening for Powys 1999, which is due for a November 13th release. -Dan Peeke
